How to Revise Successfully For CIE

There's no reason to fear exams. Learning to revise for them successfully can help keep you actively engaged in your studies, ensuring that you won't become a study zombie. You can learn to organize effectively, revise actively, and find the support you need to find the finish line.

1) Find a good place to study. Find a quiet, well-lit place to work that will be comfortable and free of distraction.

2) Draw up a timetable for your revision and stick to it. What do you hope to cover By the end of the day?

3) Set reasonable study targets that you know you can reach.

4) Engage your texts. Rather than simply reading quickly over the sometimes-dull texts you've got to study, take a more active role by making Q cards with your own questions on, 5 or so questions per card is appropriate and should cover all the information in the text.

5) Recall and summarize.

6) Draw or doodle freely while you study. For a visual learner, it's important to break down information into drawings or diagrams, to make recall easier in the long run.

7) Find someone who knows nothing about the topic and explain to them.

8) Try to use a study guide or Past Papers

9) Take breaks periodically to give your concentration a boost.

10) Don't make pointless notes or just copy huge chunks of text. Look at past exam papers, see how questions could be asked, and base your revision on topics that are likely to come up. As explained above, follow the active revision approach to get the most out of your revising.
